		Virtual Confinement - Video Installation	Art Exhibitions
		05 Dec 2008 to 05 Jan 2009 at the lower galleries of St. James Cavalier, Valletta. The video art installation Virtual Confinement, consists of two works placed facing each other in separate enclosed spaces. Enclosed in a dark niche, opposite a massive and heavily textured panel, an LCD monitor shows a digital projection of a hand pressing against a screen. In this Caravaggesque setting, 3D animations show delicate and gentle movements with the palm of the hand and fingers that alternate with images of the hand clenching itself into a fist, and beating violently against the screen, as if to break out. Conceived by Christopher Saliba, a versatile artist whose art creations range from paintings, sculptures and etchings to multi-media installations, and his brother, Victor John Saliba, an IT graduate, Virtual Confinement reflects the yearning for better human values in a consumerist society that is always craving for technological advances. 		07 Dec 2007 to 06 Jan 2009 at Ghajnsielem, Gozo. The Ghajnsielem Local Council in collaboration with all the main village organizations is working on an exciting project aimed at creating an attraction for the upcoming Christmas period. The project will in the form of a 'live crib' and will be situated in the 'Ta Passi' fields, a large piece of land situated between Mgarr Road and the main square. The 'live crib' will be called "Bethlehem in Ghajnsielem" - A unique experience where visitors will not only view the grotto but experience the environ of the city of Bethlehem. Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 - Rotterdam

The group CUTE is the latest sensation of 5 young Maltese singers/dancers hitting our islands these last few months. The group is made up of Celaine, Marzia, Paulanne, Salaia and Trisha and their ages vary from eleven to thirteen years.
They are the winners of the Malta Junior Song for Europe 2007 which was held in September and they won with the song "Music".
They have lately launched their first single, "Hey You!" The song talks about five girls having fun together, and even though they are very different from each other, they are still the best of friends and they are there for each other.
Cute represented Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was held on Saturday 8th December in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
They finished 12th out of 17 competitors. Well done, girls!

The winner of the 2007 Contest is Alexey Zhigalkovich from Belarus with the song 'S Druzyami' (With Friends). Congratulations!

		In Guardia Parade	Pageantry & Processions
		14 Dec 2008 at Fort St. Elmo. Duration: about 40 minutes - WEATHER PERMITTING. The In Guardia Parade is a historical re-enactment that portrays an authentic historical event. This is the regular inspection of the fort and garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re-enactment the fort's garrison (some 70 in all is dressed in its best uniforms to demonstrates to the Grand Bailiff its military prowess. The show is held on an almost regular basis on Sundays. 		2007 edition: 15 Dec 2007 - 'Carols by Candlelight' is being held on Saturday 15th December 2007 at St. Augustine's Monastery in Victoria, Gozo, and starts at 19.30hrs. The first part, that is the concert, will be held in the Church which with its fine acoustics creates the ideal ambience for such a concert. Candles and special lights settings will be set under the supervision of the Artistic Director Austin Camilleri. Following the concert, there will be the gala dinner inside the renaissance cloister of the monastery which again will be decorated for the occasion. Then traditional food freshly and delicately prepared by the Ta' Frenc Restaurnt Chefs will be served. Some good wine and traditional seasonal cakes will complement the evening. 		What Sound Upon the Midnight Air? Christmas Concerts by the St. Monica Choir	Music, Concerts
		2007 edition: 16 Dec 2007 at 19hrs at Our Lady of Victories Basilica, Senglea and 21 Dec 2007 at 19hrs at Our Lord the Saviour Parish Church, Lija. The 60-strong St. Monica Choir will interpret traditional well-loved tunes in both English and Maltese to which the audience can hum along. These include the likes of 'Silent Night', 'Joy to the World', 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing', as well as 'Ninni La Tibkix Izjed' and 'O Gesu Helwa Tarbija'. The choir's male section will be interpreting 'God Rest You Merry Gentlemen', a traditional English carol that was sung on London street corners as far back as the 1500s. Another traditional carol, the German 'O Tannenbaum', will be sung by the whole choir. An original choral adaptation of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' will also be presented. The jazzy arrangement of 'We Three Kings' is also original and interesting and will see the choir swinging with the kings from the Orient! Amongst the new pieces in the choir's repertoire which will be sung this Christmas are Pietro Yon's highly evocative 'Gesu Bambino' and the jaunty 'Shepherd's Pipe Carol' by Rutter with its vivid portrayal of the starry night above Bethlehem. 		2007 edition: 21 Dec 2007 at 19.30hrs at the St. John's co-Cathedral, Valletta. This year's concert is the 17th edition of a tradition Amadeus Chamber Choir has held since its formation in 1990. 		The Philharmonic Society Stella Maris - Christmas Concert 2007	Music, Concerts
		2007 edition: 21 Dec 2007 at 19.30hrs at the De Porres Theatre Hall at the Strand in Sliema, next to the Marina Hotel. The musical selection for this year's concert is mainly Christmas carols together with some very popular military marches. The selection will include the popular carols such as 'O Come all ye Faithful', 'The First Noel', 'Once in David's Royal City', 'White Christmas'. 		Carols by Christmas Lights at Birgu	Village Festas, Music, Family Entertainment, Cultural
		2007 edition: 22 Dec 2007 from 18hrs to 24hrs at Birgu. On this evening the streets of Birgu will have a variety of Christmas decorative lighting, Christmas trees, cribs, mangers with statues of Baby Jesus as well other decorations related to the Christmas festivities. During this event numerous musical performances in the churches of Birgu will be held as well as in Victory Square and in various streets. A warm and inviting ambience will also be created in the main square where Maltese Christmas delicacies as well as other foods will be sold. The town's main festa band groups will be entertaining along the streets of Birgu while there will be a mini concert of Carol singing by some of Malta's best vocalists. See the full programme here. The event is scheduled to start at around 10pm and will go on until late. 		Permanent Art Exhibition - Various Visual Art Forms
		At the Rux Art Gallery Ц Sir Antonio Micallef Street, Balzan. Featuring paintings by Damian Ebejer, late Francis Ebejer and Giuseppe Cassar. A ceramics exhibition is also being held by Sina Farrugia-Micallef, Zell Osborne, Julie Apap and Sue Mifsud, and sculptures by Ivan Fenech and Guzeppi Theuma. Other exhibitors are Frank Schembri, John Busuttil Leaver, David Xuereb and Millie Burn (paintings) and Kevin Attard (silver art works).

		Passio et Resurrectio: The Cult of Christ's Passion and Resurrection from Lent to Pentecost
		From 29 Feb 2008 at the Inquisitor's Palace, Main Gate Street, Vittoriosa. This exhibition will form part of the museum's permanent display and traces the development of the cult of Christ's Passion and Resurrection in Malta and its related traditions. It highlights include an artistic church model set up for the Holy Week (a new acquisition for the National Collection), life-size and miniature sculptures, paintings, objets d'art and other equipment used in the traditional Good Friday procession. Open Monday to Friday from 09.00 hrs - 17.00 hrs; last admission 16.30 hrs.

		Malta At War Museum at Vittoriosa (Birgu)
		This museum combines an attractive exhibition about WWII in Malta with the viewing of a 30-minute original wartime documentary and with an underground air raid shelter. Extensive use of original and creative forms of interpretation highlights all the important aspects of this epic. Venue: War Museum, Vittoriosa (Birgu); located across from the bus station following directional signs. On foot or by car: follow road signs to the Three Cities (Cottonera). Once in Cottonera,follow road signs to Vittoriosa (Birgu), and onto the Malta at War Museum. Monday to Sunday from 09.00hrs to 16.00hrs, except on Good Friday, Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day. 		'A Horse for Airing the Gods' A sculpture exhibition by Raphael Vella
		At the Terrace Hall of the St. James Cavalier, Valletta. As part of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue in Malta, the European Parliament presensts a sclupture by Maltese artist Raphael Vella. Called 'A Horse for Airing the Gods', and made inn 2004, of timber and steel, for 'Den Haag Scluptuur', a yearly exhibition of large-scale, outdoor sculpture held in The Hague, Holland, the piece stands four metres high, and currently dominates the Terrace Hall of the St. James Cavalier. It presents viewers with a monumental structure resembling an oversized clothes-horse with longer-than-life books hanging at different levels. Each book cover has a laser-cut title referring to the name of God in a different European language. If was produced at a time (2003-4) when there was dicussion in some European countries about the absence of God's name in the EU constitution. Read more about this event at St.James Cavalier.

		Gozo Heritage at Ghajnsielsem, Gozo
		Gozo's landscapes might look the picture of peacefulness and serenity these days, but the island has experienced its fair share of tumult in the past. Walk through a show which re-enacts the story of the island and its people. Gozo Heritage is the first step for a visitor wishing to find out more about Gozo's past.
